Erasmus Mobility Trip to Spain and Sweden:
Thirty-one learners from Enniscorthy Community College of Further Education and Gorey Institute of Further Education departed from Dublin airport on the 7th of January for three weeks work placement. Sixteen learners travelled to Malaga in Spain and another fifteen travelled to Vasteras in Sweden. The trip was fully funded by Leargas as part of the Erasmus Mobility Project. The lucky participants were all selected following interviews and are representing a wide variety of courses. These courses include Childcare, Nursing, Business/Accounting, Engineering, Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Youthwork and Fitness, Health and Exercise.
The learners will spend three weeks in a work placement relevant to their course of study. This will provide them with an excellent opportunity to experience a different culture, language and work practices which will further enhance their skillset and CV. At the weekends they will have the opportunity for some sightseeing and to immerse themselves further in Spanish and Swedish culture. School Principal Dr. Iain Wickham thanked PLC Coordinators Anita Cullen and Conor Dempsey for looking after all aspects of the trip and the teachers that will act as accompanying personnel for the learners. The school is extremely grateful for the EU funding which reduces any barriers learners might have from travelling to other EU countries. Feedback from learners has always been positive as for some it may be their first time away from home and they are outside their comfort zone. The knock on impact of this usually is increased confidence and self-esteem along with getting a greater understanding of their area of study. Both travelling parties will return on the 28th of January no doubt having enjoyed their experience along with some wonderful memories.
