This course provides a recognized qualification necessary for working as a healthcare assistant in a variety of settings, including hospitals, day and residential care, mental health, palliative care and in the community. The content of the course focusses on preparing the learner for the workplace. It equips the carer with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in this rewarding role as a member of the healthcare care team.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent)
- No academic requirements for over 23s
- Applicants whose first language is not English need to have a B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Language test.
- Successful candidates will be required to have obtained Garda Clearance before commencing their work experience placement.

Note: The student must spend a minimum of 150 hours on work experience placement during the academic year.

Student Uniform
All students must wear a uniform in college and on work placement. This consists of a blue (unisex) tunic, navy cardigan or a plain zip up navy fleece (no hoodies), navy trousers, black/navy leather closed flat shoes (laced/velcro) and black/navy socks. A plain white short sleeved tee shirt under the tunic is permitted.

- This course qualifies students to avail of the links that Enniscorthy Community College of Further Education has with South East Technological University in Waterford and Carlow to study on several of their degree programmes. There are RESERVED places for our graduates on these courses.
