This course is aimed at student who have completed the leaving certificate, leaving certificate applied, leaving certificate vocational programme and mature students with an interest in engineering with suitable candidates being selected by interview, in September. The aim of this course is to give students a wide range of experience within the engineering sectors and to prepare students for entry into third level education, apprenticeships, and the world of work.

Students will spend two weeks working in industry. They will gain invaluable first-hand experience in an industrial environment. Work experience will also provide them with more clearly defined career path and options

Career Progression
Students who participate in this course are eligible to apply for apprenticeships or go directly into the workforce. Those students who successfully complete the course can gain entry to third level education by an alternative route known as the higher education links scheme, whereby the students can gain entry to specific courses in the institute of technology, using their QQI examination results instead of their leaving certificate results.

Leaving certificate, (or equivalent), or over 18.
No requirements for over 23’s
